State Roads Closed in East Central Pennsylvania Due to Storms

Allentown – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) advises drivers several state roads are closed in East Central Pennsylvania because of flooding and/or downed trees and power lines caused by Hurricane Irene last week and rain storms this week.

Here is the latest list of road closings in PennDOT Engineering District 5, which includes Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Schuylkill counties (as of 8 a.m.):

Berks County

Monocacy Creek Road between Monocacy Road and Ben Franklin Highway in Amity Township due to flooding (this week’s rain);
Mt. Laurel Road/Leesport Avenue between Willow Creek Road and Huller Lane in Ontelaunee Township due to flooding (this week’s rain).

Lehigh County
Fairview Road between Emmaus Avenue and Susquehanna Street in Salisbury Township due to damage to a box culvert (Hurricane Irene);

Schochary Road between Flint Hill Road and Zeisloff Road in Lynn Township due to roadway inspection after flooding due to a downed utility line (Hurricane Irene);

Schantz Road between Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township and Cetronia Road in Upper Macungie Township (this week’s rain);

Indian Creek/Mountain Road between Allen Street and PA 29/Cedar Crest Boulevard in Upper Milford Township due to flooding (this week’s rain);

Spring Creek Road between PA 100 and Mill Creek Road in Lower Macungie Township due to flooding (this week’s rain);

Mosserville/Mountain Road between Rextown Road and Lehigh Gap Boulevard in Washington Township due to flooding (this week’s rain);

Cetronia Road between Trexlertown and Grange roads in Upper Macungie Township due to flooding (this week's rain);

Center Valley Parkway between PA 309 and East Saucon Valley Road in Upper Saucon Township due to flooding (this week’s rain).


Monroe County

Marshalls Creek Road between Brushy Mountain and Wooddale roads in Middle Smithfield Township due to a downed tree in utility wires (this week’s rain);

PA 447 between Stokes Avenue and Brushy Mountain Road in Stroud Township due to flooding (this week’s rain).


Northampton County

Green Pond Road between Farmersville Road and South Country Club Road in Bethlehem Township due to flooding (this week’s rain);

Lehigh Drive between Hugh Moore Park Road in West Easton Borough and Adamson Street in City of Easton due to flooding (this week’s rain).



Schuylkill County

PA 924 between Eagle Lock Lodge in East Union Township and Scotch Pine Drive in Hazle Township, Luzerne County, due to flooding (this week’s rain).

Hubley Township: Church Road, Creek Rd and Honeymoon Trail.


These roads are closed for safety reasons, and PennDOT warns motorists not to drive around barriers on closed roads.

Motorists can check road conditions on more than 2,900 miles of state roads by calling 511 or visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, average traffic speeds on urban interstates and access to more than 500 traffic cameras. Regional Twitter alerts are also available on the 511PA website.
